For Unit vectors

a = 1

cos x = sin y

b = 1

r = root 2

cos x = (a + r) . 1/(|a||r|)

= sin y

This proves that 1/root 2 = "i" = cos x = sin y

cos^2 = sin^2 = ½ = -1

cos^2 + sin^2 = 1

cos = sin

(root 2) cos x = 1

(root 2) cos y = 1

From the laws of vectors

Equivalent vectors are:

-2 = 2

-(root 2) = root 2

-1 = 1

1 + 1 = root 2

root 2 = r = -i

-1 + 1 = (+i)(-(-i)) = (1/root 2).(1/root 2) = ½ = i^2
